I find the commute an interesting concept. Hopefully in the next few months it will be significantly reduced for me so I’ve been giving it some thought lately. It’s fine when you’re feeling good and awake, there’s always something to contemplate in the world around, but if you’re off par or your soul’s feeling bruised that train journey can feel like it will never end. A good book doesn’t cut it, iPod doesn’t seem to have the right tune, every second person looks like another looney, it’s just you and your thoughts. And, dang, don’t have the camera to hand even. But wait! Mobile phone camera to the rescue! Thanks Sony Ericsson.
PS the title for this post is from The Seeker’s Morningtown Ride. As a child my parents would play it in the car going home to Mt Eliza from holidays and I thought it was about going to Mornington on the train (it’s the next town along from Mt Eliza going down the Mornington Peninsula). Childhood. Ah.
