…mmmmmm Paris…

What can anyone say but – WONDERFUL. In case no one has said it to you I will – Paris is WONDERFUL.

With departure for sunnier shores imminent, a trip to Paris was imperative. My dear dear friend Matthew joined me and we OD’d on art, big time. Obligatory Louvre visit (I’d like to include diagrams here of why the Mona Lisa experience shows up humans for the idiots they are, but really, diagrams are boring aren’t they? Unless of course they show you how rich you are. That’s if you’re rich of course. Even more boring if they show you how poor you are…) but the BEST was the Musee D’Orsay. Manet, Pissarro, Sisley, Monet, Van Gogh, Renoir, art deco interiors, I could go on and on. You must go visit for yourself.

Lots more photos in the rest of the post…

‘stunning’ Liverpool…

I went to Liverpool overnight to visit the excellent Klimt exhibition at the Tate. The commentary on the Mersey Ferry described the Liverpool riverfront as ‘stunning’ – a description I’m afraid cannot in any truthfulness be applied to Liverpool. Do they not realise tourists have eyes that work? For all it’s stately grand buildings, Beatles mania and impressive Cathedral, I can’t see myself spending another minute in Liverpool without a very very good reason. Perhaps another excellent Tate Liverpool only exhibition…

One highlight was chancing upon a newly cleaned statue being returned to its plinth next to where the ferries dock. A job well done and over in a jiffy! Continue reading ‘‘stunning’ Liverpool…’

Yorkshire long weekend…

A little while ago now I went to the Yorkshire Dales for a long weekend. It’s very picturesque, particularly towards the end of the afternoon when the sun begins to slant across the hills. Continue reading ‘Yorkshire long weekend…’

oh for the love of Switzerland…!

1708chaletmorning1small.jpgMy Switzerland trip was absolutely and spectacularly wonderful. I highly recommend everyone has at least one Swiss Alps holiday and you would not be disappointed to stay where I did (unless you can only holiday in high luxury hotels – to you I say it’s good to be flexible!!). Don’t forget to say hello for me to Matt and Elizabeth who run the place.

Below are links to my trip diary and photos.

Check out the Cow Symphony video on the Bretaye page…

Enjoy…
